A loan helped to buy more medicines to sell.

Kumba's story

Meet 40-year-old Kumba. She is a widowed woman with 2 children, ages 22 and 26 years. Both of her children are presently attending school while living at home. Kumba is a college student.

In order to sponsor her kids, she runs a drug store where she sells medicines. She has managed this business for 15 years and considers herself a hard-working business woman. Kumba's mother taught her this trade. She has had no problems since she started to sell, and she sells 5 days a week. She uses a motorbike to transport supplies to her business site.

To excel in business, Kumba requires a loan through BRAC Liberia and KIVA Field Partners. With the anticipated profit, she will buy more medicines that will allow her to repay her loan installment and increase in business.

She likes her business because it helps to send her children to school. In the future she would like to deal in an international business. She appreciates BRAC and KIVA for financial support.
