Isatu's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy more luncheon meat, cigarettes, milk, sugar, sardines and cooking oil to sell to her customers.

Isatu's story

Welcome to Port Loko, a bustling market community in the eastern area of Sierra Leone.

This is Isatu. She is a 35-year-old local businesswoman. She is married with three children between the ages of 3 and 17. Before she was a housewife. This loan will help her to improve her standard of living and take care of her children's welfare.

Isatu runs a retail business. She sells luncheon meat, rice, milk, cooking oil, sugar and cooking seasonings. Isatu has a food stuff business at a busy marketplace from which she sells onions, palm oil, rice, sugar, gari [cassava], fish and other ingredients bought by her customers to make local spicy stews for their families. Isatu works for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. But now she has an assistant who can help her. When asked about the challenges her business faces, Isatu says it is tough when the stock goes bad before it is sold. Despite these challenges, she is proud of her business.

Isatu would like to use this loan to buy more luncheon meat, cigarettes, milk, sugar, sardines and cooking oil to sell to her customers. She is well-regarded by BRAC Sierra Leone, as she previously took out and repaid four loans for her business.

She thanks you for your support
