Alex's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to increase his transaction float to ensure that he has sufficient funds to assist his clients with mobile transactions.

Alex's story

Alex is a 30-year-old man from Lusaka, Zambia. He is married and they have a 2-year-old son. Alex is a Zoona entrepreneur and assists his community with sending and receiving money. He joined the business in April this year after a long struggle of hustling, trying to make ends meet. Being uneducated, Alex could not secure himself a proper job and taking care of his family was not easy for him. He started buying and selling goods but he earned very little and could barely feed his family. Alex's life turned around when he became a Zoona agent.

Alex has an outlet in one of the busiest townships of Lusaka. His outlet generates thousands of transactions in a month and he generates a revenue through assisting the community with sending and receiving money. He employs a teller to assist him and the income he generates is just enough to pay salaries and meet his household bills. Alex could earn more if he had more working capital in his business. With the float he currently has, at times he is unable to assist clients with high value transactions as his float quickly depletes. This will require him to make frequent visits to the bank which is costly and time consuming.

Alex is therefore reaching out to Kiva for financial support. With a Kiva loan, he will increase his transaction float to ensure that his outlet is always open.
