Mariama S Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy rice from a local producer in Makeni, supporting local farmers while scaling up each trader-members’ business.

Mariama S Group's story

Mariama S (pictured far right back row) and her lending group would like to sincerely thank all the Kiva lenders for their first loan. It enabled them to break free from the local lenders who were charging them nearly 100 percent interest and, as a result, all group members have fully recovered their businesses, have repaid their first loan and are successfully trading again after the devastation of ebola.

Mariama has expanded and opened a central store for the group and they are ready to expand further. There has been huge demand for the locally grown rice Mariama's group is selling, and they are now seeking a second loan to greatly increase their stock and distribution capabilities.

The profits will be used to ensure all members' children go to school, and will also be used by the group to create a scholarship fund for group members to receive in basic training and education where relevant.
