Suzy's loan finished fundraising,

A loan helped bring more local makers into our store and conduct additional outdoor Maker Markets.
Suzy Ekman has dedicated her career to advancing American-made consumer goods. Makers Market launched in June 2014, initially with makers from the San Francisco area, and now rapidly expanding to curate the best independent makers from across the country. Growing up in Alabama, Suzy spent precious time alongside her father in his workshop learning, making, and listening to stories. They traveled regularly throughout the countryside discovering potters, blacksmiths, textile weavers, and furniture makers. Watching these artisans create their products and chatting with them about their lives and how they learned their craft had a deep impact on her. “I met the most talented, authentic, and down to earth people I've ever met. People who were at peace with their lives, but needed help to transform their talent into their livelihood.” These experiences instilled a deep appreciation for those who can design and make beautiful product with their hands. Suzy spent the next several decades in executive management and consulting for Ernst & Young as well as her our premiere consulting firm. She has worked with hundreds of start-ups as well as Fortune 500 companies – helping struggling companies survive and then thrive, and keeping “making” jobs in America. Her early-life creative exposure, combined with her lifelong passion for making in America, shaped what Makers Market is today.
