Kyaung Su (West) – 1 (C) Village Group's story

Kyaung Su (West) - 1 (C) Village Group is located in Mahlaing, in the dry zone of Myanmar. People in the village rely on traditional farming and breeding livestock as their main sources of income. Some young villagers migrate to nearby towns, while others open small grocery shops in the village.

Included in the picture are Win, Tin M, Tin A, Tin and Tin H, who are the loan clients of Kyaung Su (West) – 1 (C) Village Group. Win, pictured in the middle one, is a smallholder farmer who grows sesame, groundnuts, cotton, onions, tomatoes, and pigeon peas seasonally. He is 53 years old and married, with 5 children.

Currently, Win and his fellow members are in need of capital to buy enough quality seeds and fertilizers for their farm.
Some will use their loans to pay for farm labor costs and some portion of the loan will be used to purchase needed petrol for their rented farming machinery.
