Patience's story

Patience is thirty-nine years old and married with two children. She lives with her family in a rented apartment in the city. Her first born has completed senior high school while the last child is in junior high school. Patience sells products like beans, soya beans, groundnuts (peanuts), rice, millet, maize, etc. and has been in business for twelve years. She buys her cereals and other goods from villages and supplies to the market women in her communities. Patience says that food vendors also come to her to buy in large quantities. Patience is requesting a loan to top up her working capital to enable her to buy stock in bulk on each trip to meet the demands of her customers. Being able to buy in bulk is very advantageous. It means fewer trips to fill the demand, and it is a hedge against the rapidly rising prices. She therefore wants the loan for this purpose.
