William Antonio's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a biodigester to turn farm waste into renewable resources.

William Antonio's story

William is an ambitious farmer who wants to turn the farm where he raises pigs, rabbits and chickens into a model for sustainable, small-scale farms. He used to pile up the animals' waste on his farm, where it would emit greenhouse gases and contaminate the environment.

He decided to invest in a Sistema Biobolsa biodigester to treat the manure of his 164 animals and transform it into renewable energy (biogas) and nutrient-rich organic fertilizer for domestic and other uses.

Through his biodigester, William will be able to use the money he used to spend on LP gas and chemical fertilizers to invest in the expansion of his farm.

William’s goal is to purchase more pigs and increase his corn and fruit production. His farm will become more cost-effective and sustainable as he starts applying the fertilizer from the biodigester to nourish the soil in an entirely organic and environmentally-friendly manner. He looks forward to transforming a problem into a solution and to showing that waste is actually a resource!

This loan represents 35% of the price of the biodigester; the remaining part is paid directly by William and the Nicaragua Biogas Program.
