A loan helped to buy a pulper.

Norma Elena's story

Norma worked collecting coffee beans and started to manage her small 2.19 hectare farm more than 8 years ago in the northern region of Nicaragua in the city of Jinotega. She lives here with her three children who are currently in elementary school. Her farm is certified as Fairtrade, UTZ and C.A.F.E. PRACTICES, which is proof of her promise to the environment.

In the last three years, her farm production has increased with 6 loans given through APAC, producing up to 100 quintales (100 lbs) in the last season. The loan asked for will be invested into buying a pulper, which is extremely important to guarantee the correct pulp removal of her coffee beans.

With the support of her family, she has been able to maximize the resources and coffee production of her farm, stabilizing her family situation and supporting the community. This loan will allow her to optimize the quality of her coffee beans by 60%, with which she hopes to improve her family and community's wellbeing.
