A loan helped us move into a studio in Flushing, Queens.
A Brooklyn native, I began exploring yoga eight years ago, expanding on my love of movement, music and theatre. Yoga found me at a particularly vulnerable time in my life, as I was grieving the loss of my mother, a beloved pet, and a miscarriage. From my first class, I was hooked. I felt like I was really back in my body again. Yoga taught me how to embody difficult feelings, to allow them to move through–and out of–the body and out of my life. In 2013 I became a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher 200, through the Joschi Yoga Institute in the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan. I specialize in Vinyasa yoga, which combines an athletic practice with the breath to create flow. I believe that bodies are made to move and I enjoy helping people find greater awareness and appreciation for themselves through an energetic, alignment-based yoga practice. Yoga is a tool that helps people integrate their mind, body and spirit for holistic wellness and find stillness in a busy life. Currently, I am pursuing a degree in Psychology and certification as an RYT 500 and as a Certified Integrative Wellness and Life Coach. It is my intention to open a center where people can become empowered to take responsibility for their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being and experience vitality, joy and a high-quality of life. To this end, I’ve recently begun teaching classes and leading retreats all over the world. Alaya Yoga is the realization of that dream.
