Jose Gamaliel's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy a de-pulping machine and lower the costs of de-pulping his harvest.

Jose Gamaliel's story

José has worked for years harvesting coffee, and he began to run his own small farm, 2.46 hectares in size, 10 years ago, with the help of his wife. They live with their two children, who are primary school students, in the north of Nicaragua in the city of Jalapa. His farm is fair-trade certified, which includes an agreement to care for the environment.

For the last three years, the quality of his coffee has been affected by the lack of machinery which would enable him to oversee the processing so that the integrity of his harvest is not affected.

He will invest the requested funds in the purchase of a de-pulping machine, thus lowering the costs of depulping his harvest. Until now, he's has to take his harvest to the nearest farm to undertake this process.

With the support of his family, he's been able to maximize his resources and thus the production of coffee on their farm, which has stabilized his family's situation and supported the community. This loan will enable him to improve the quality of his coffee, which he expects will increase his returns by 40%.

José's dream is to improve the well-being of his family and community.
