A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides.

Mildred's story

Mildred is an ever-smiling, energetic, and beautiful smallholder female farmer. Born a rural village in the Kitale region of Kenya, Mildred has grown up to be a very progressive woman. In her village, very few female farmers have had the courage to risk their limited resources in farming and thus she commands a lot of respect.

Mildred practices dairy farming, poultry farming, and crop production. She has been able to support her family through income generated from her farming business. Her family's main income source is milk from their dairy farm, eggs, and the little profit made by her business. The biggest problem she faces in her farming business is the high cost of farming inputs.

Mildred is sometimes forced to grow her crops without the use of farm inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides. This has consequently resulted in huge losses due to poor quality of produce which is in less demand in the market. Mildred is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides. This loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and improve the quality of life for her family.
