Teresa's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer and seed to enable her to grow more crops.

Teresa's story

Special people on the Kiva portal!

Teresa is the oldest client of Juhudi Kilimo but still very strong and good-humored. The culture of hard work was instilled in Teresa by her parents very early while she was still a toddler and she has never deviated from what she was taught.

Teresa hails from a remote village in the Thika area of Kenya. Thanks to her daily efforts, she has managed to give her children a good start by providing them with a good-quality education.

Teresa has a farm where she grows crops and raises livestock. She also earns some income from a personal business. She never had a formal education and is content with the farming lifestyle. The Thika area is favorable for farming. She took a out first loan that she used to buy farm implements.

Now she is kindly seeking an emergency loan to buy more farm inputs and increase her farming. Through the loan, she will buy quality farm inputs such as seed and fertilizer that she will use to improve her farming.

Being a woman and accessing funds in Africa, especially around Thika, Kenya is very challenging, but Teresa feels relieved, knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help hard-working women like herself.

She is always working to improve her family’s living conditions, but her biggest dream is to secure her grandchildren’s future.
