Viviana Azucena's story

The city of Portoviejo, known as the city of royal tamarinds, was affected by the earthquake of 16th April 2016. It is located in the Portoviejo River valley and the city is rich in the production of vegetables, pulses and tropical fruits for domestic consumption.

Viviana is 30 years old and is in a common-law marriage from which she has 2 children aged 8 and 10, who go to school. Her spouse is a coffin maker. They live in her parents-in-law's home.

Viviana earns a living selling clothes from catalogues with a great variety of brands, and also various clothing for women, men and children. Her selling method is door-to-door, she has a space in her home where she has her merchandise and her customers also come to buy. She works every day without a fixed schedule, leaving items on loan to her customers and collecting payment weekly. She goes to Guayaquil to buy her merchandise every two weeks or month in accordance with what she needs.

With this new loan she will buy shirts, t-shirts, shorts for women, men and children. She likes the loans because the interest is low. Her dream is to have a house.
