Alas De Aguila Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a variety of perfumes and creams that are on sale.

Alas De Aguila Group's story

The Microcredit Plus program of loans, combined with education, is helping the 10 Maya Kaqchikel ladies in the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank Alas de Aguila, or Wings of the Eagle, empower themselves and eliminate poverty.

They live in the department/state of Chimaltenango. The monthly educational trainings are of vital importance to the growth and success of these women, since they have an average of 2.6 years of formal education.

These trainings, designed by a facilitator from the organization, cover an aspect of four main topics that include business, health, family and women. The business tools (planning, investing, savings) help the women expand their small businesses that range from the sales of catalogue products to raising pigs.

Raquelina, a mother of two children ages 11 and 17, is 36 years old with a seventh grade education. She sells catalogue products like perfumes, make-up, cleaning products and personal hygiene items.

Raquelina is requesting a loan to buy a variety of perfumes and creams that are on sale. She will use some of her income to cover the educational expenses of her children, who are in the fifth and seventh grades.

The success of Raquelina and her friends in the Trust Bank would not be possible without the generosity of Kiva investors. Thank you so very much!
