Emmy's story

Emmy is a widow who is humble and hard-working farmer with the drive and willpower that characterizes women in the Kapsowar area of Kenya. She is a woman with an entrepreneurial mind. From a very young age she learned all of the tasks of the farm so much so that today she has her own mixed farm. Being a widow has not prevented her from doing all she can to support her seven lovely children that she really adores so much. Emmy never secured an office job but this did not kill her dream of wanting to succeed in life. She started farming and has been farming for the past nine years. Emmy practices mixed farming on her farm and with the profits, she has managed to meet her family's needs and support her ageing parents. Emmy is a widow who is very enterprising. She is seeking a loan to buy seeds and start horticulture farming on her farm. She wants to take advantage of favorable weather patterns. Juhudi Kilimo is partnering with Kiva and Kiva lenders to help smallholder women farmer like Emmy to make their farming dreams come to reality through training and loan financing. Emmy hopes that with this loan, she will improve her living conditions. Her dream is to sell horticultural products to international markets. This loan will give Emmy the opportunity to progress as a widow smallholder farmer and as a person, as well as to increase her earnings and continue providing for her household.
