A loan helped to buy another dairy cow.

Fridah's story

Fridah is a woman eager to get ahead. She is a 28-year-old mother who lives with her family in the Nkubu area of Kenya, and is blessed with a lovely family, which is her greatest motivation in life to persevere because she wants to provide them a better future. Fridah was unable to study to get a professional career because of the economic situation that her family faced. However, she never gave up and has been practicing farming for the past 10 years. She is an early riser who goes to her farm to earn a living, and has space there to increase her dairy farming.

In 2010, Fridah started farming on her husband's 1.2-acre piece of land in Mathene village in Kenya. Today, the farm is home to two large dairy cows. One way in which Fridah has chosen to increase her income is through improving milk production on her farm. To achieve this, she is requesting a loan to buy a quality breed of a dairy cow. Through the loan, she will be able to satisfy the milk demand in her village.

Her vision in the future, once she has accumulated more money from the dairy cow she has bought, is to buy a chaff cutter that she will use to cut hay into small even pieces that the cows will enjoy. With more to chew, they will need more to drink and this will lead to more milk for Fridah's family to consume and sell.
