Nat's story

Mrs. Nat T., age 54, and her husband, Mr. Ke T., age 60, live in a small village along National Road Number Five, about 20 kilometers from Phnom Penh. They were married in 1972 and have six children: one son and five daughters. One of their children is married and lives outside the family home, three daughters work in a garment factory and other two children attend school. Nat has been selling Khmer noodles for two years. Mr. Ke T. has been growing rice since 1979, and he assists his wife in the business when he is free. For the future, the couple hopes to support their children’s further education and have a job. Nat doesn’t have her own transportation so she is requesting her first loan of $500 to purchase a motorbike for commuting.
