Integridad Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy two additional looms that will help her increase production and sell more “cortes”, both inside and outside her community in Quiche.

Integridad Group's story

The Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Integridad” was formed by eight Maya K’iche ladies who live in a rural area in the department/state of Quiche. Some of the women have a sixth grade education. However, the majority of them do not have any education at all.

They benefit greatly from the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans and education. The ladies learn to manage their businesses when they learn about budgeting, planning, investing and savings. They acquire essential information about themselves (health, self esteem, empowerment) and their families (nutrition, hygiene, the use of medicinal plants). This is their third loan cycle with Kiva.

Manuela, a 23-year-old single member of the group, has only a sixth grade education. She has a small workshop where she weaves beautiful & colorful “cortes”, traditional wraparound skirts. She is requesting a loan to buy two additional looms that will help her increase production and sell more “cortes”, both inside and outside her community in Quiche. There is a high demand for these textile treasures, and the other ladies in the Trust Bank weave them as well.

Thanks to the generosity of Kiva lenders, Manuela and her friends are beginning to achieve some of their goals and dreams to create a brighter future! Thank you!
