Liza's story

Raised in East Palo Alto, Ca a small low-income community of color. I was raised by my father’s parents. In my city, positive opportunities in life seemed to be a hope rather than reality. I grew up in the church, where I ushered just like my grandmother. Inspired by the heroic community activism and social awareness that surrounded me, I too began a path for social change and human-kindness. An aspiring artist since the age of 3. Life changed at age 11, my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer and shortly after my mother passed away. My father incarcerated most of my life, made me promise to myself to thrive in life to be the change I wish to see. I sketched portraits of family & fashion. Art became my outlet. My grandparents worked very hard to provide for my brother and I. My grandmother did my hair & make-up for my dance recitals, It was showtime. I fell in love with the art of beauty. My hair & makeup looks always made me be known for my unique style that gave me a creative platform to just be myself. Volunteering has had the biggest impact on my life. Today I am a licensed beauty professional, who specializes in makeup, hair care and microblading. I'm passionate about helping others to express their inner beauty outward for the world to see. Through hard work and determination, I was able to start my own business. My goals are to expand my business to touch more lives, one client at a time, provide for my family and employ as many big dreamers with visions to lead and change the world.
