Oliver's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more braids and chemicals to suit customer demand.

Oliver's story

Oliver is 21 years old and lives in the town of Buwama in the region of Uganda. She is married and has one child. For the past five years, Oliver has been working hard to manage her salon, which dresses ladies' hair.

To help expand her business, Oliver has requested a loan of 1,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more braids and chemicals to suit customer demand, and will help Oliver to generate greater profits. With these increased profits she will be able to pay for her kid's school fees. Oliver hopes that in the future she will be able to to start up a restaurant next to her salon.

Oliver is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
