A loan helped to buy sheep for resale.

Benkadi 2 Group's story

The woman in the photo holding the ram is Mariam. She is seen with the other members of her loan group and is forty-four years old and lives in the countryside with her husband and six children, four boys and two girls, aged between five and sixteen years old. None of her children attends school. Her husband is also a livestock farmer and raises sheep. Mariam has been buying and selling sheep for seven years and makes a profit of 25,000 francs CFA per cycle.

This will be the first loan with the field partner, RMCR, for Mariam. She will buy two rams, feed and salts, fatten them up and sell them on for a profit of 60,000 francs CFA. This will allow her to take more financial responsibility, buy new clothes & shoes for her children and help her husband with other household expenses. In the future, Mariam would like to be able to trade at the larger markets in the area, generate more profit and become financially independent.
