Barry's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support
A loan helped me participate in trade shows, photograph weddings and school functions, create postcards mailing campaigns and upgrade camera equipment!
Early on, I learned that I love being an entrepreneur. Photography has allowed me to experience meeting a customer’s physical needs while also touching them emotionally. I love what I do and frankly, I’m a bit obsessed. After being in the wholesale energy business for a number of years, I was laid off when the business unexpectedly filed for bankruptcy. Having a family to feed, I started building web sites which kept income flowing and also increased my technical skill level. At one point, I had 113 web clients mostly consisting of small businesses and individuals. As a small shop, I learned an incredible amount by having to do all of the web design and development in-house. In 2008, the economy turned sour and hit small businesses especially hard, including my customers. Many of my clients found it difficult to pay me, so I continued to refine my technical skills hoping to ride out the global financial downturn. To my dismay, the economy’s effect on my client base did not subside. I found myself struggling to make payroll for my 3 employees and cover my household finances. I decided to look for a job. I found a position as the Online Marketing Manager at Ritz Camera and Image. As the online marketing manager for a national 300+ store camera chain, I got the opportunity to learn more about professional cameras and the photography business. The more I was exposed to the incredible art photographers were creating, the more I knew I wanted to get involved.
