Zindikilani's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to obtain a diesel-powered water pump.

Zindikilani's story

Zindikilani is a 47-year-old small-scale farmer based in Katete district in the Eastern Province of Zambia, where he lives with his wife and children. Zindikilani is asking for a loan in order to obtain a diesel-powered water pump to help improve the irrigation system on his farm.

Zindikilani grows mainly garlic, but has also dedicated a small section of his farm to tomato growing. He is one of the district's largest garlic producers, and his crop fetches a good price at markets both within and outside Katete district.

Like many other rural farmers in the district, Zindikilani uses buckets and other less efficient manual pumps to draw water from shallow wells to irrigate his crops. A diesel-powered water pump will reduce the labour involved and greatly increase the efficiency of his irrigation process. This will in turn allow Zindikilani to expand the cultivated area of his farm.

Rent-to-Own is keen on helping Zindikilani expand his production and will deliver the water pump to his farm directly. Rent-to-Own will also ensure that the water pump continues to serve Zindikilani well for a long time to come, by training him on how to properly use and maintain it.
