but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy bean seeds for farming.

Bokk Askan Ndiaré Wakhy Group's story

The Bokk Askan Ndiaré Wakhy Group is part of KOKI's Promoting Women Group (GPF). The GPF consists of more than 1000 individual members, all of whom work in a network. They live together in a community of several villages, and all work in the fields of cattle farming and agriculture.

This group is composed of 10 women, all of whom meet up at the end of each month. The group is led by Ousseynou (pictured above, raising her hand). She is married and is the head matriarchal figure of her family. She helps her husband pay for daily expenses and for her children's schooling.

The Bokk Askan Ndiaré Wakhy group has applied for this loan so that they can buy niébé bean seeds - which are used frequently in their daily work. This plant can be made into flour, boiled, fried as fritters, or made into couscous. It is also frequently used in the group's sauce recipes. It is truly a national delicacy!

Any profits that Ousseynou makes from selling her crops will go towards paying for her daily expenses and towards improving her family's general quality of life. Her goal for the future is to expand her farming land, and to increase production - both of which will help increase her monthly income. She also wants to establish some savings.
