Las Magaly Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a variety of lotions, perfumes, and creams.

Las Magaly Group's story

The Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Las Magaly” was formed by nine determined ladies in the state/department of Suchitepequez on the southern coast of Guatemala. The women work hard at their businesses that include a bakery, tortilleria (fresh tortillas 3 times daily), as well as the sale of perfumes, deodorants, and prepared food items. They are excited to begin their third loan cycle with Kiva. The ladies look forward to their monthly meetings when they make payments on their loans and then participate in educational training sessions, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of the organization that combines loans + education. Topics are drawn from four main subjects that include women, health, family and business.

Berta, a 41-year-old mother of three children who range in age from 2 to 28, is a member of the group. She is proud that she has been able to fund the education of her older children. Berta realizes the tremendous importance of a good education but sadly, she was only able to complete the second grade. Berta sells sweet-smelling perfumes and deodorants. As there is a high demand for her inventory, Berta is requesting a loan to buy a variety of lotions, perfumes, and creams. She wants her business to grow, increasing sales and income.

Kiva investors play a vital role in the lives of these ladies. Thank you for your kindness and your generosity in lending a helping hand to Berta and her friends.
