Hawa's story

Greetings from Liberia. This is 36-year-old Hawa, who is married and has 6 children, ranging in age from 4 through 19 years. All of them are in school, while living at home.

Hawa went to school until the 8th grade. She runs a business, selling underclothes, soap, hair grease, and power. She started this business with her own money, and she learned this trade from her mother. For the past 20 years she has been trying hard to manage her sales. Hawa describes herself as a very honest and hardworking businesswoman. She uses a bike or a wheelbarrow to transport supplies to her business site. She likes her business, because it gives her more profits. In addition, she is proud of her business, because it helps to send her children to school.

To increase the business, Hawa requires a loan through BRAC Liberia. This financing will allow her to buy more underclothes, soap, hair grease, and power to sell. In the future she would like to deal in an international business and to build a house for her children. She appreciates all the lenders, around the world.
