A loan helped to purchase natural fertilizer and fuel for the tractor for her rice farm.

Mak Group's story

Mak is a rice farmer who lives in a village in the Kampong Cham province of Cambodia. She is the 45-year-old mother of four children aged from 16 to 21. One of them is a student. She has been cultivating rice since 1993 to earn income for her family’s living, while her husband is a motor taxi driver to aid the family income. This family can make around US $25 per day.

Because the weather conditions are not good for farming, she has now formed a group of two members to request a group loan. She will use her portion to purchase natural fertilizer and fuel for the tractor for her rice farm. She is confident that she will get higher profits. She will use her profits to purchase two more hectares of farmland to cultivate rice, and support her child to get a higher education.
