Robyn's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support
A loan helped scale my baking production and purchase updated packaging in order to grow my wholesale business.
I grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with two parents who worked in the furniture business as sales reps. Let's just say, I watched both of my parents work for themselves and I realized that's what I wanted to do when I grew up. My mother also used to tell me about my great grandmother, Bess (Bobo). Bess opened up her own dress shop in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1943 after being left by her husband with two young children to feed. Bess started small by buying special clothes for tall women in town. She then expanded to all sizes and became a destination for style in the Midwest. The store provided for her family and was family run and operated for over 50 years. I tell this story because it largely impacted my life. It gave me a sense of the kind of woman I wanted to be; independent, entrepreneurial and determined. I hope to one day have a strong local brand, thriving business, and the ability to give back to my community. When I was in third grade, I started a recycling club. I wanted to make a difference and make sure that our school was recycling. My mom said that's when she knew I would go on to work for myself and do something to impact the world around me. I would agree.
