Fatou's Group's story

This 7-member borrowing group was founded in June 2011. It joins together group of entrepreneurial women who work raising livestock and selling agricultural products.

The featured borrower is Fatou, pictured standing in the right of the photo with her hand raised. She is 45, married and active in the trade of cereal grains.

With her new loan, Fatou plans to buy wholesale supplies of peanuts, millet and cowpeas from the weekly markets close to her village. She will then resell the products to individual purchasers for a profit.

Fatou intends to reinvest the profits she earns into growing her business as well as to continue to support her family.
