Nelly Beatriz's story

Agriculture and livestock is the main economic activity in the Charapoto parish. Vegetable crops, melon, watermelon, cucumber and pepper are marketed by different parts of the Ecuadorian sierra and for their provincial consumption. Rice from this area is considered the best in Ecuador.

Nely is 36 years old and is in a civil partnership from which she has three children aged 17, 15 and 10 years. Two of them are studying in college and one at school.

The spouse is a master mason. They live in their own house. Nely sells pigs, breeds them in her house where she has a yard. She gets up at 5 a.m. to clean up where the pigs are, and then she feeds them. She works every day. She sells them alive.

She has been in this business for 4 years. The spouse helps with the work. With this new loan will buy pigs, compound feed, vaccines and disinfectants. She likes them because the group is united and the medical insurance. Her dream is to have a well stocked shop in her home.
