Abdullahi's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase improved farm inputs that will increase farm yield.

Abdullahi's story

Abdullahi, a Babban Gona maize farmer from Dokan village, has been a Babban Gona farmer for two seasons. He has one child, who aspires to be a doctor in the future.

Previously, Abdullahi and his family were only able to eat two meals a day despite toiling for several hours on the farm. However, as a Babban Gona member he will, as a result of this loan, be provided with higher-yielding seeds that are locally adapted and widely accepted in his local community. He will also have the recommended pesticides and fertilizers based on the results of his field assessment. This will enable him to optimize his yield so that he can attain yields of up to 3.8 metric tonnes per hectare, 2 times the national average in Nigeria.

This season, Abdullahi will use the income generated from his maize sales to build a better house for his family. Abdullahi’s greatest memory as a Babban Gona farmer is gaining higher yields as a result of the loan he got in the past. Abdullahi is confident that with Babban Gona his future is secure and that he will have many more great memories and amazing accomplishments together with his family.
