Grace's story

Grace is 51 years old and lives in the town of Zzana in the Abaita Ababiri region of Uganda. She is widowed and has 4 children. For the past 7 years, Grace has been working hard to manage her brick making, which brick laying. To help expand her business, Grace has requested a loan of 2500000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy firewood and other materials for making the bricks, and will help Grace to generate greater profits and will increase on family income. Grace hopes that in the future she will be able to to buy a machine for making bricks. Grace is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Grace who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
