A loan helped a farmer in Michigan to buy new equipment, seeds, and a hoop house!
Imagine a community invigorated with organic, clean, and delicious food; readily available and in abundance. My roots in farming stretch back to as far as half a century ago; beginning with my grandfather. When I was only 3 years old my Grandfather and I dug through a limestone ridden plot on our land for nightcrawlers. With the crawlers came the removal of the limestone chunks and then the weeds. Eventually that uninspiring plot became a lush garden and from then on I saw the magic in farming! As a family man it was needed and still is that I do whatever it takes to provide for my family. That being said I took a detour from my vision to do just that through the carpentry business. I never stopped cultivating on the side, however, in 2003 I moved with my family to a seventeen acre plot of land in Onaway, Michigan and continued carpentry/ horticulture on the side. Struggling to find work I took jobs as they came. My carpentry business never did fully recover and in october 2014 while working on an airplane hangar door; I was struck in the head. I suffered a severe head injury and haven’t worked carpentry since. There is however a silver lining to be had out of my injury; I’ve been able to put most of my time and focus into getting my farm up and running. These loans will make a huge impact on my family’s life and on our surrounding community. I really believe I can be successful and help reinvigorate my town of Onaway and the surrounding areas. If you can; Please help me make my dream a reality!
