Linet's story

Linet is a smallholder woman farmer, full of dreams and aspirations in her life. She resides in a remote village that is in Kitale, in the Rift valley region of Kenya.

As the key breadwinner of her family, Linet has been practicing mixed farming. Because of the immense knowledge she has of farming, she commands a lot of respect from other farmers in her village. Her primary sources of income have been milk, eggs, and crops. She also engages in a small business to supplement the meager income she earns through farming.

Linet has been making a profit, but she finds it extremely difficult to cover both her family’s basic needs as well as her children’s education. She is therefore seeking this loan so that she can engage herself in a side business that will help her supplement her meager income. She intends to buy different varieties of cereals such as maize, sorghum, rice, wheat, barley, and millet, to sell in the local market. Market for the cereals is never a problem because the demand is always high and she plans to take advantage of that.

Because of the good relationship she has with her neighbors, Linet intends to make more sales through earning a comparative advantage in her local market. The stepping stone to her success is the loan that you are lending to her now.
