Yeabu K's Female Master Farmers Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for improved seed, organic inputs and tractor rental which will allow these farmers to escape subsistence by farming a larger area with a higher yield.

Yeabu K's Female Master Farmers Group's story

Yeabu K (1st on the left) is the leader of the elder women's group in Rolayan, Sierra Leone. She has a large extended family of 12 and has been a farmer her whole life. During the Ebola Crisis, even the best farmers in Rolayan were unable to farm for two seasons and many lost their savings and livelihoods. As a result, Yeabu has organized the most experienced Master Farmers in the village who are determined to recover and make their community prosper once again. All members are currently trapped in a cycle of subsistence and take extremely high-interest loans for poor quality inputs during planting time. A low interest KIVA loan will therefore enable this group of determined women to get back on their feet and back in business.
