Muktar's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to purchase improved farm inputs that will increase his farm yield.

Muktar's story

Muktar is a Babban Gona maize farmer from Masoba village and resides with his family in a mud house. Muktar manages a 1-hectare maize farm, through which he supports his family.

Thanks to his hard work, Muktar and his family could eat three square meals a day. Because he’s a Babban Gona member, this loan will provide him with higher-yielding seeds that are locally adapted, and are widely accepted in his local community. He will also have the recommended pesticides and fertilizers based on the results of his field assessment. This will enable Muktar to optimize his yield, where he can attain yields of up to 3.8 metric tonnes per hectare; 2 times the national average in Nigeria. This will not only increase his income earnings 2.8 times the national average but also ensures that Muktar can continue to provide for his family.

This season, Muktar hopes to double his last year's yield, and recalls buying more farmlands as his greatest memory as a Babban Gona farmer. Muktar is confident that with Babban Gona his future is secured and he will have many more great memories and amazing accomplishments together with his family.
