Ryan's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped a unique medical standby business to expand their services to youth and adult sports leagues and special events.
I entered the field of public safety in 2009 by joining the local volunteer fire department and from there became interested in emergency medical services. I remember my first ride-along and my first fire like they were yesterday. Being involved in public safety opened up my eyes to a whole new world of giving back to my community. I became an EMT and started working at a local ambulance service in 2010 and started a second job with another service in 2013. I have always looked for ways to give back to my community so it only made sense to start a business that would do the same. It brings a great sense of satisfaction to ensure that our youth have access to quality medical care when they are having fun. My family has been very supportive of my endeavors and my wife constantly encourages me to keep pushing forward. She has been supporting us by working 2 or 3 jobs at a time over the past few years while I figured this business out. The previous support of 33 Kiva lenders allowed me to get my foot in the door with local youth sports teams*. In 2016 our team provided standby service for 14 youth sports teams and treated over 300 injuries! In 2017 we hope to work alongside local ambulance services and fire departments at larger events. We will continue to provide EMTs at sports games during the school season. It is my eventual goal to hire some EMTs on full-time and turn this seasonal business into a year-round operation. * Learn more about our first Kiva loan at https://www.kiva.org/lend/1090739.
