Ibrahim's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase improved farm inputs that will increase farm yield.

Ibrahim's story

Ibrahim, a Babban Gona maize farmer, is married and lives in a modest mud house with his family in Gwanda village. Ibrahim is a meticulous farmer who has invested time and resources on his farm. Like every parent, he hopes to send his children to better schools.

Thanks to the previous loans that he received from Kiva, he registered three of his children in better schools. He decided to apply for another loan to have access to high quality seeds that are locally adapted and widely accepted in his local community. He will also have the recommended pesticides and fertilizers based on the results of his field assessment. This will enable him to optimize his yield, allowing him to attain yields of up to 3.8 metric tonnes per hectare, two times the national average in Nigeria. This will not only increase his income earnings 2.8 times the national average but also ensures that Ibrahim can continue to provide for his family.

Ibrahim looks forward to using his additional income to send his remaining children to good schools, and recalls feeding his family all the time as his best memory as a Babban Gona member. Ibrahim looks forward to a brighter future with Babban Gona as he too has joined the fight against poverty.
