Irene's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase seeds and start horticulture farming.

Irene's story

Irene has lovely children and is a humble and hardworking farmer with the drive and will power that characterizes women in the Kerugoya area of Kenya. She is a woman with an entrepreneurial mind. From a very young age, Irene learned all of the tasks of farming, so much so that today she has her own mixed farm.

Irene requested a loan from Juhudi Kilimo 10,000 KES, which she will use to buy seeds and start horticulture farming on her farm. She wants to take advantage of favorable weather patterns, a good road network in her village, good soil, and a ready market for horticulture products to reap more profits. Horticulture produce such as vegetables are in high demand in the Kerugoya area.

Juhudi Kilimo is partnering with Kiva and its lenders to help small landholder women farmers like Irene to make their dreams come to reality through training and loan financing. This loan will give Irene the opportunity to progress as a farmer and as a person, increase her earnings, and continue providing for her household. She wants to improve the quality of life for herself and her family.
