A loan helped this Army Veteran and single mom provide needed paint and flooring to our coworking space and hire an event manager part time so we can better serve the West Valley businesses in Arizona.
I grew up in North Providence, and my parents were teenagers who started a cleaning business, and it grew from nothing to more than 100K in sales per year. After my mother passed away in 1995, my father, my sister and I were left heartbroken with bills piling up. I ran his business for him when he was gone out of town and ran our household as well. If he had a regular job during that time, I don't think he would have been able to keep it. His flexible work schedule and self employment gave us the option to grieve as a family. Unexpectedly I joined the Army in 2003 and stayed in until I became a single parent, and had to leave the military permanently. I knew at that moment I had to have my own business in order to pay for everything we needed to live and so I built up my marketing agency that I rebranded this year. I have never given up even when things got really difficult, and my heart for the community, and small businesses is the second reason I do what I do. The coworking space will serve this community well and provide a wonderful life for my daughter and I, here in Arizona.
