Kadiatu's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more food stuffs to sell to her customers.

Kadiatu's story

Welcome to Port Loko, a bustling market community in Sierra Leone. This is Kadiatu, a 42-year-old local businesswoman. Kadiatu and her husband have 3 children.

Kadiatu started her business years ago to supplement her husband’s income. Kadiatu has a table at a busy marketplace from which she sells onions, palm oil, rice, sugar, gari, fish, and other ingredients bought by her customers to make local spicy stews (such as “green,” “cassava leaf,” “groundnut soup,” “pepper soup,” etc.) for their families. Kadiatu works for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week but also now has an assistant who can help her. When asked about the challenges her business faces, Kadiatu says it is tough when the stock goes bad before it is sold. Despite her challenges, however, she is proud of her business.

Kadiatu would like to use this loan to buy more food stuffs to sell to her customers. She is well-regarded by BRAC Sierra Leone since she previously took out and repaid 2 loans for her business. She thanks you for your support.
