Mara Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to cover the plowing costs and to purchase insecticides for cultivating rice.

Mara Group's story

Mara, aged 33, is married and living with her husband and three school-aged children in the village in Prey Veng Province, Cambodia. For the past 15 years, she has been cultivating rice to earn income to support her living while her husband adds to the family income from working as an administrator in the provincial ministry. This couple typically makes around $14 (USD) per day.

Because of the shortage of finance for farming this season, she is now leading a group of two members to apply for a group loan. She appears first on the right in the photo and would like to use her share of the loan to cover the plowing costs and to purchase insecticides for cultivating rice. She believes this loan will allow her crops to grow on time, boost her crop yields, and increase her family income. With the profits from this season’s harvesting, she is going to purchase two more hectares of farmland, build a new proper house, and help her children to get college.
