Haruna's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase improved farm inputs that will increase farm yield.

Haruna's story

Haruna resides in Gada village. He is a Babban Gona maize farmer who manages a 1.7-hectare maize farm, through which he supports his family.

Despite working for eight hours on his farm each day, he was only able to eat two meals a day. However, this changed when he became a Babban Gona member. This loan will provide Haruna with higher yielding seed that is locally adapted, and widely accepted in his local community. He will also have the recommended pesticides and fertilizers based on the results of his field assessment. This will enable him to optimize his yield, where he can attain yields of up to 3.8 metric tonnes per hectare, two times the national average in Nigeria. This will not only increase his income earnings 2.8 times the national average but also ensures that Haruna never goes hungry again.

Reflecting on Haruna’s greatest memory as a Babban Gona farmer, a smile lights up his face as he remembers sending his children to better schools. Haruna is confident that with Babban Gona, his future is secured and that he will have many more great memories and amazing accomplishments.
