Flor Navidena Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy 2 large rolls of fabric.

Flor Navidena Group's story

Nine Maya K’iche ladies have formed the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Flor Navidena” in the department/state of Totonicapan. They have various small businesses that include animal husbandry (chickens, pigs), & clothing fabrication. This is their 2nd loan cycle with Kiva.

The President of the Trust Bank is Marcela. She is 26 years old with a 9th grade education. Marcela is married & the mother of 2 children (15 months, 6 years). The oldest child is in pre-kindergarten. Marcela has a textile business & makes canvas pants. She is requesting a loan to buy 2 large rolls of fabric. She has planned carefully & wants to be certain to have plenty of fabric on hand to fill orders.

The “Microcredit Plus” program of Friendship Bridge (loans + education) is of tremendous value to Marcela & the ladies in the Trust Bank. Each month, they learn about an aspect of 4 main topics that include business, family, health, women. The information is taught by a Facilitator who uses games & role playing, as well as pictures & diagrams to transmit the information. As the women have had little or no formal education, these trainings are essential to their success as women, mothers, community members & business women.

Kiva investors play a vital role in the lives of these ladies. It would be impossible for them to walk into a bank to secure a loan. They are appreciative to Kiva investors for providing capital for their loans. Thank you!
