Soutoura Group's story
Abdoulaye is the man holding the cow's leash in the photo. From Mali, he is 49 years old and married to a housewife. He has not been to school. He is a father of five children, aged from eight to 19 years old. One child attends school.
Abdoulaye has raised cattle for more than 18 years, [and he also] farms rice, millet (sorghum and small millet), groundnuts, etc. He is taking out a loan with RMCR to buy cattle to fatten. He buys his animals from a local market and in his village. After he fattens the animals, he will resell them from his home and in the local market.
After his sales, his profits can vary between 25,000 francs CFA and 30,000 francs CFA each month. Profits from the harvest and the sale of cattle allows him to take care of his children's health, diet, and clothing.
Abdoulaye says he does not have any problems with the loan from RMCR. He wishes in the future to have more capital in order to develop his farming.
