A loan helped to buy more food products for her business.

Edilma's story

Edilma, 41, is single, head-of-household and lives with her three children. She only studied to fifth grade since she did not have the opportunity to continue. Edilma was abandoned by her parents and taken in and raised by a good-hearted aunt. At the young age of 16 she established her own household but things did not go very well with her husband who was involved in family feuds. She finally decided to leave Tame and go to Yopal alone with her three children in search of new horizons. There she found work at a company that made vacuum packed foods (potatoes, banana snacks, pork cracklings). She learned her job very well and became the company administrator for several years.

Finally, Edilma decided to return to Tame, her homeland, with the idea of establishing her own business. Once there it was not easy to get started since the machinery and equipment were expenssive. But after overcoming many obstacles, after ten years of much effort and dedication she is making and selling her products.

Edilma knows the market demand and wants to grow quickly and boost her small company with enough work capital to buy more supplies to increase production. Her dream is to grow as a business owner to generate employment and give her family a better quality of life.
