Magdaline's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for tuition fees at Strathmore University.

Magdaline's story

I am Magdaline, a potential law student at Strathmore University, a first of five children, hence tasked with the responsibility of setting the pace for my younger siblings. I blog and perform poetry at the National Theatre. Performing poetry has giving me the chance to interact with poets and hone my writing skills. I write my inspiration being on issues affecting the society in a bid to fuel critical analysis and possibly draw solutions for the community. I am passionate about pursuing a law degree and ultimately promoting the value system of the judicial mechanism in Kenya, financial limitations notwithstanding.

My family has faced financial challenges in catering for our basic needs due to low income and the additional burden of catering for medication for my ailing father. My other siblings are in school, all needing school fees. I am determined to be the solution to my family’s ailing financial status once I gain employment. I have undertaken to apply for a Kiva loan in order to help me acquire my law degree and hence aid my family and serve the nation.

Hopefully, having benefitted from KIVA, I intend to repay the loan meticulously and also help others in the spirit of giving and empowering. I would like to thank Strathmore University for partnering with Kiva to aid students like me who passionately seek a quality higher education. I could not have made a better choice of a university in pursuit of my law degree.
