Lin's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for postgraduate medical diploma fees and mobilization for medical training.

Lin's story

Lin is a Wedu ‘Rising Star’, selected for her leadership potential and keen desire to be a change-maker in her community. This is her story:

I was born in Yangon and had my primary education all over Myanmar, moving with my parents, who were Government officials. I did the rest of my studies and MBBS in Yangon. As a freshly graduated doctor, I worked in a private clinic in Maubin, where I also volunteered at a charity clinic. For the past 4 years, I have worked with the Ministry of Health, recently at a General and Teaching Hospital, as a trainee for an MSc in Internal Medicine.

At 29, I am the youngest Government Official Doctor chosen from Myanmar to take part in the Medical Training Initiative in the UK. While there, I will also pursue the Diploma in UK Medical Practice. This request for FISA financing through Kiva is to pay for my Diploma fees, and to help me mobilize for my training.

There are immense challenges with healthcare in Myanmar, due to scarce resources and technology. My training will lead to my pioneering acute medicine as a specialization in Myanmar.

I am determined to improve the healthcare standards in my country. The Wedu leadership programme has made me realize that my dreams are achievable, with good planning and by taking step-by-step measures. I have a very understanding and supportive mentor. Together with my responsibilities as a doctor, I dream of being a successful writer, to share my experiences and to motivate and inspire others.
