Las Tejedoras De Zaculeu Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy seeds and fertilizer to grow vegetables like potatoes, peas, and broccoli.

Las Tejedoras De Zaculeu Group's story

Located in the Central Highlands of Guatemala, in one of the very agricultural communities of Chimaltenango, is the Trust Bank “Las Tejedoras de Zaculeu”. This Trust Bank is made up of 9 enthusiastic women. Some of the women dedicate themselves to farming, while others are weavers of traditional cloth. The group is starting its first KIVA loan cycle.

One of the members of the Trust Bank is Antonia, a hardworking 64-year-old woman, who is married and has 4 children. Antonia did not have the opportunity of formal schooling, but she supports her children’s development. Antonia and her family are farmers. She is starting her 5th loan cycle through Friendship Bridge. She needs a loan to buy seeds and fertilizer to grow vegetables like potatoes, peas, and broccoli. Together with her family, Antonia cultivates between 5 and 8 acres. She is anxious to get a loan that will help, not only her, but also her family.

Antonia takes advantage of the training offered by Friendship Bridge to educate herself. The training is part of Friendship Bridge’s Microcredit Plus, which combines micro-loans and education in business, as well as health, family, and women’s issues.

Antonia and her Trust Bank companions are grateful for the confidence and support of KIVA investors to grow their businesses and support their families’ development.
